To mark this unprecedented anniversary, we take a look back at some of the iconic country fashion looks inspired by the Royal Family over the last 70 years.

Wax Jackets

It's no secret - the royal family love a Wax Jacket. Resisting the weather, thorns, scuffs and being repairable and re-waxable are excellent qualities for countryside walks and fieldsports. As a result the popularity of waxed cotton among the Royals has never dwindled.

The Queen has famously sported the same wax jacket for more than 25 years, refusing to part with it. A true fashion investment piece, the waxed jacket has a deep-rooted association with the British countryside. We believe everyone should own one of these iconic garments!

Ladies Tweed Jackets

Wearing tweed as part of a smart outfit is popular and how many individuals choose to incorporate tweed into their wardrobes. It will steal the show in any setting, both urban and rural. It’s easy to pull off your tweed jacket with just a pair of jeans and smart shoes to create a more casual, yet styled, look.

Men's Tweed Blazers

Tweed was originally developed in Scotland and Ireland and was worn by farmers for its sturdiness, durability and protection from harsh weather conditions. It later became more popular amongst English aristocracy for its performance in outdoor activities such as shooting and hunting and for its stylish appearance.

Tweed can be worn at any time as it's easy to dress up or down. There are numerous ways to wear a tweed jacket, whether you want to be casual or dress up for a smart occasion. A tweed jacket is ideal for the older gentleman due to it's protection from colder weather, but they also prove popular to younger audiences thanks to their distinctive appearance.

Field Sports Jackets

Designed in the traditional English game-shooting style, a Field Sports Jacket is the ideal choice for when you want to be well-dressed for company, but retain full freedom of movement.

Although they give a traditional look, modern Field Sport Jackets often feature windproof and waterproof technology to protect from wind and rain - waterproofs are a must when on a shoot in the British countryside. The perfect thickness to provide warmth, without being cumbersome or restrictive since most shoots take place in the autumn and winter.

Other Looks

Although we are just touching the surface, there are some looks that we just can't ignore.

There is one trend that the 96-year-old monarch has immortalized as one of her own. The Ladies Quilted Jacket has been a wardrobe staple, with it's unmistakable stitching, often in a diamond format. The perfect lightweight jacket can be layered under thick coats, worn on spring days with jeans and dresses, or chucked on with leggings and trainers for the school run.

Men's Sweaters are a great way to add some complexity to your overall look. Other than the fact that it’s a garment to keep us warm, a sweater is also a great opportunity to inject some dimension and seasonality into your outfit, whether it's a solid colour or patterned, crew neck or v-neck. A zip neck style sweater will look much more modern and sporty than other styles.
