Its a lovely quality hat with a wide brim to keep the sun from your face. It can also be dressed up and down easily. It also stays in place well except for in really gusty conditions. However, the sizing did come up larger than expected.

Whilst I was delighted with the service from New Forrest Clothing, I was disappointed with the quality of the Hoggs of Fife hat.
I have had a number of Hoggs of Fife products which have been first class. Sadly, the quality control in respect of the hat was lacking. The seem at the inside of the rear of the hat has been finished off very badly and has been left with a seem which is extremely proud, resulting in a painful ridge inside the hat on the back of the head.
Fortunately, the hat was a little large and i purchased some fillers for inside the inner sweat band which made it less uncomfortable.
I had previously received a size L hat of the same design and make which did not have this issue but was on the tight side and was returned.
I would be delighted if this review could be passed onto Hoggs of Fife to alert them to the issue as at the price, I don't feel this product should have been put on sale.

Very sturdy and stiff waxed fabric, feels warm enough. It is a bit low in terms of length, but that means it doesn't slip onto your forehead or eyebrows.
The sizing seems on the small side. I'm a woman and usually all small hats are too large on me, but this one seemed too tight. I know it has to stay on your head, but was just too tight for me. I ordered a medium to see if that might be the right size.

Like the hat. More rugged material than many of similar appearance and the material seems up to the job of keeping the rain out. Would have pteferred a 56cm had it been available instead of 55cm purchased. The next size up would have been too large at 57cm. Settled for a tight fit to keep rain off and prevent wind from taking it away.
