Gateway1 Field Master 18" 3mm:
Pros:
• Feels well-made and durable (but only time will tell).
• Adjustment positioned out of the way at back of welly.
• Minimal neoprene lining (3mm thick) – I find thick neoprene too warm.
• Tread grips well.
• Comfortable – have walked c.5 miles in them so far.
• Wide toe-box allows natural splaying of toes to aid balance and movement.
Cons:
• Texture of neoprene lining tends to grip socks and gradually pull them off your foot whilst walking (easily solved by a scrunch of Tubigrip around the ankle!).
Sizing:
• Gateway1 manufactures in European sizes, but its conversion table to UK sizing is non-standard. Order in your usual European size (not your UK size) – or consider going up a UK size – otherwise, you might find your wellies are too small. For instance, I’m usually a UK12/EU47. But Gateway1 equates a UK 12 to an EU46. I ordered EU47 (which Gateway1 equates to a UK13) and it fits perfectly.
