Fabulous for getting rid of flies.
This is a fantastic bit of adult kit, but it certainly is NOT to be used as a toy.
Given that the flies this year have been dreadful, it has been invaluable. I can't see how we ever managed without one!

My pump action Bug-0-Salt 3.0 makes me feel like Arnold Schwarzenegger as I stride up and down my kitchen wasting these annoying and disease ridden horrors. My wife and children look at me with renewed respect as I liquidate these unwanted guests with cold blooded efficiency. Terrible product - doesn’t kill house flies unless it’s a couple of centimetres away. Absolute waste of money.

Just to check—was the gun fully loaded with regular table salt and the safety switched off before firing? The Bug-A-Salt is designed to be effective from a short distance, but it should definitely be working better than what you've described.
