I got a dog and realized that my "tech" jackets were poorly suited for the muddy claw beast (two jackets have perished). Gravitated towards a famous brand version, but was very turned off by the fashion price (and the extra branding stiched onto a pocket). Was suspicious when I realized that other companies were making this style of jacket (in the UK!) for very reasonable prices but decided to take a gamble. Quite pleased. Clearly this jacket has been refined over some time. Hood is removeable. Collar strap can be hidden away with the (hidden) hood snaps. Zipper is not a YKK, but is substantial and moves smoothly. For my navy version, the buttons are subtly branded and color matched to the fabric. No extraneous branding is stitched or patched onto the outside of the jacket. Wax is waxy and held up fine in a light rain. I don't have a famous brand to compare to, but the canvas seems fairly study. Only long term concern is that the nylon fabric lining the bottom and sleeve edges seems a bit flimsy. Fit is "classic dad bod" where some allowance is given for a stomach. I'm usually a S and this S has decent space for a thick sweater or vest underneath.

Great value for money. Jacket fits as expected for my size choice. My only negative is that the hood feels a little small, could do with a bigger peak at the front to protect face more from rain.

My partner was delighted with this jacket , he usually wears an XL but we odered an XXL which was a good fit .

The Hoggs of Fife Padded Wax Jacket was as described. The size was perfect. Some jackets have more padding but I find that less padding makes them more useable under a wider range of weather conditions. Thought about giving only 4 stars as I haven't had a chance to check how weather resistant it is but in the end decided to give it the benefit of the doubt. Only negative aspect was the label - "Made in England".

Easy to order and quick delivery - only worn it a couple of times so can't say for sure that it will tick all of the boxes but so far so good.......

A warm padded jacket that is very comfortable, large outside pockets big enought for dog treats,dummy, ball & poo bags. 2 hand warmer pockets deep enough for a pair of gloves and quite warm. Inside pocket is big enough for long line lead. There is a smaller pocket inside which is handy.
The collar is quite high and when pulled up which cuts down the cold wind effect when you are standing in a field and so far it has been completely waterproof.
One thing I really like and highlights good design, although the coat is about thigh length the zip starts just sout of the belt line so when you are stooping/bending to pick up game/dummy/poo you don't strain the zip at the bottom, nice.
One addition that would make this perfect would be a zip pocket over the left breast (like Barbour) for wallet/phone/keys. But apart for that its a fab coat.
My wife commented on how much nicer it looks than the Barbour or other wax jackets that I've had.

Had to return as had a hole in the pocket and was too big on the shoulders for my hubby..(prob not jacket fault there though)

The coat looks well made, however, the size was bigger than expected. We sent it back with the very easy return system and are now awaiting the delivery of the replacement coat.

I was very pleased with service and quality of jacket is good for price.
