I bought this Wax Jacket for my brother in law for his birthday.
I bought the bxt size up XL as my brother in law is terminally ill with Heart Failure and his tummy is distended really badly, I know he loves his wax jacket so decided to treat him.
It looked brilliant on and he was really pleased. I thought I would finish of his looks with a flat cap for him.

5* should be for the absolute exceptional. I only look at 1-4* reviews. I waited for a wet afternoon dog walk before review. 73%intensity, 98%coverage walking in woods and dry from neck to mid thigh. No leak around the collar seam or under the arms. No ingress around the sleeve cuffs -delighted. Game pouch great for dog lead and cargo pockets kept treats and poo bags dry. How well the seams around the hand warmer pockets stand up will be the test of time. Zip and poppers seem good quality. The only thing missing is a zipped chest pocket for phone and match tickets

Not quite perfect but close
It wasnt a lot of money and for £40 i cant complain. It was true to size, for me anyway, and fits well. Iwas expecting a bit more padding inside but i didnt get it!. It is waterproof, to a point, but thats to be expected with wax cotton. The zip is a nice large one especially with cold hands but can be a bit reluctant to engage properly. Hopefully time and use will sor that out.
Nice deep pockets which is what i needed and a detachable hood. Its not the warmest but is ideal for dog walking and shooting, again ideal for what i needed. The wax outer is not overdone or greasy but amy need reproofing sooner rather than later. If you want perfect buy a barbour at 5 times the price and then cry when it gets damaged. Your choice

Really good tradition wax jacket. It’s long enough for me at 6’1” and overly bulky.
The zip isn’t great, sometimes difficult to start. The hanging loop is just too small

The jacket is very well made and the pocket options are very useful.
Initially I had a problem with sizing as the recommended size on the chart was far too big. Upon contacting NFC I was advised that the sizes do come big so I opted to drop from XXL down to XL.
As I am being truthful the XL is too big also but I didn’t want to appear a nuisance customer.
I am a 48 chest and even with a sweatshirt on the jacket has a little too much room for me. Had I been more aware of the larger sizing of these jackets I would have definitely ordered large and no bigger.
I have only worn the jacket a couple of times on my dog walks and it is very warm and as expected, kept me dry for the 20 minutes I was out each of the two occasions.
I have given the 5 stars for the quality of the jacket and the customer service which I experienced. I would have taken a star away for the misleading sizing information but didn’t want to be picky.

Super value for money. This jacket has been very comfortable, traditional wax jacket material and style. I have treated the seams with additional wax and the jacket has kept the rain out for several hours. Good fit. I like the lack of padding - as I usually find that they result in being very warm when wearing during activity.

The wax coat is goog quality with a good size for just a large, i had an XL delivered and New Forest Clothing kindly swapped it for a large which was a better fit and the zip is a both way working one..it is so good that 2 months after the correct size was delivered,i've ordered a second coat to use only for best,it's a cheap coat for the quality
