As the popularity of online shopping only continues to rise, the sustainability of packaging has been put into question. New Forest Clothing is committed to building a sustainable business for our customers, employees and the planet. That’s why we’re excited to share an update on a new packaging solution we’ve been working on for a while. Over the last month NFC customers will have noticed that we have been moving towards using paper bags and cardboard boxes for all our outbound parcels!
So what will this new packaging do? Constructed from natural wet strength brown paper, impressive strength and reliability are assured. The open mouth top allows for rapid, trouble-free filling for the NFC Team, while the double peel and seal strip ensures easy and secure closure for both outbound packing and can also be re-used for returning unwanted items to us. For larger orders we have opted for cardboard boxes sealed with self-adhesive Kraft Paper Tape, which has a natural rubber adhesive and can be recycled with the box.
But what’s more important to us is what it won’t do - the benefits are far more rewarding! As outdoor enthusiasts we love being outdoors and enjoying the environment and wildlife. The paper bags, tape and cardboard is 100% recyclable and compostable leaving no components behind. It won’t exist in the environment for hundreds of years, attracting toxins and making the land or water it’s dumped in dangerously toxic. If an animal decides it looks like food, it’s unlikely to cause them harm, unlike plastic bags would! It is not going to wrap its self around the necks of birds, mammals or sea life. The new packaging is also produced locally reducing our carbon footprint even further!
This new packaging solution is just part of a number of changes we are implementing to build a more sustainable business and reduce our carbon footprint; including looking at opportunities to our improve our energy consumption and generation, offering more sustainable, circular and locally produced products and offering our customers the opportunity to reduce the environmental impact related to their purchase with a small donation at checkout.
