For the second feature in our Meet the Creators series, we’re excited to introduce Alix Jade Selby — a passionate country and fieldsports content creator with a life that’s as busy as it is inspiring. Splitting her time between clay shooting competitions, falconry with her husband, raising her little boy, and working full-time in farming, Alix embodies the true countryside lifestyle.
Having first joined up with Country Content on a photoshoot for Jack Pyke, Alix quickly became part of the community, bringing her energy, authenticity, and love for rural life to every project. Since then Alix has been on multiple photoshoots modelling the best and latest of our New Forest products. In this Q&A, she shares what it’s really like behind the scenes, from her funniest shoot-day moments to her must-have countryside clothing picks.
Q. What does a typical day in your life look like?
A. I am a country and fieldsports content creator, who in my spare time clay shooting and hunt with our birds of prey. A typical day can look very hectic, working round full time farming, my little boy, our four dogs, and our birds of prey. Most days involve dog training, fitness training for the falcons and eagles and keeping up on practicing for up and coming clay shooting competitions.
Q. What draws you to the country lifestyle?
A. I was introduced to the country lifestyle through my husband, but what draws me to it now is how tranquil it can be, and to continuously learn and immerse myself in country pursuits.
Q. What’s your favourite countryside activity?
A. It’s a tough one, clay shooting definitely takes priority when it comes to what I want to achieve but we literally live and breathe falconry.
Q. Are there any “must-have” pieces you always wear on a day-to-day? What’s one piece of clothing you couldn’t live without?
A. I’d say my must have pieces are wellies and a good coat
Q. How did you first come to work with Country Content?
A. My first ever day with country content was a brand campaign with Jack Pyke and I was hooked from there, I did know of them through a good friend of mine beforehand.
Q. What has been your favourite part of the shoot day experience with Country Content?
A. Definitely meeting new people and other creators, and being introduced to some amazing country brands.
Q. What’s been your funniest or most unexpected moment on a shoot day?
A. The funniest moment on a country content shoot day was photographing a new forest coat sat on a shooting chair, and as soon as I sat on it it tipped backwards and I ended up in a heap on the floor legs in the air, I’m pretty sure there is photo evidence somewhere
Q. Which New Forest Clothing pieces have been your favourites to style or shoot?
A. I would definitely say the range of ladies tweed coats, they go with so much. Super flattering shape and so timeless.
Q. And which New Forest Clothing piece has been your favourite all round?
A. Definitely the Florence coat, I wear this so much as it’s a lighter tweed coat than most.
